Thirsty Thursday: February 26-27

We are excited to be able to introduce yet another previously unavailable saké to our Seattle nomidachi.

From Niigata prefecture's Fukui Brewing Company (whose Minenohakubai "White Plum Blossom" brand rose to prominence during the "jiizake boom" 30 years ago) we are glad to present Minenohakubai Junmai Ginjo for your gustatory delight.

This butterscotch-tinted saké displays faintly sweet, herbal aromas of yeast and plums in the nose. The combination of being light, yet umami-laden, with clean top notes and mint, wood, and piney richness underneath make this a wonderful brew that never wears out its welcome.

The importer has made just a few bottles available to us as a "trial" release, so please seize the chance to titillate your tonsils with this Niigata treasure this weekend.
