Greetings Nomidachi!Sake Nomi Display Sign

It's hard to believe we already blew thru October and that here in Seattle it's once again getting dark around 4:30 in the afternoon, but, Bruce Hornsby, "that's just the way it is."

At any rate,  we've got lots of great new brews scheduled to make their arrival in the coming weeks, and we're excited to introduce them to you.

Here's a quick look at some things in the works:

New Week, New Menu
We launched the new weekly menu yesterday, and it is pretty darn solid.  'Gotta admit a little sadistic thrill when, after running through the tasting, the customer is at a loss to pick just one favorite because "they're all so good!"

Wii Wednesday

Tonight, from around 5 pm, it's on, not unlike Donkey Kong (in the parlance of our times).

First Thursday ArtWalk (11/7)
Come patronize the local galleries and artistes, and don't forget to grab a glass of artisanal sake, while you're at it!

New Sake Tasting: Friday- Sunday (11/8-10)
This weekend, we'll be introducing two new-to-Washington sake!

Isojiman JG On our "wish list" for a long time,
 Isojiman Junmai Ginjo is
a dark straw/hay colored sake, featuring aromas of apple, grape, and a bit of dates.  Its super full, plump mouthfeel is nicely contrasted with absolutely perfect acidity. Drinking somewhat fruitier than what its +5 SMV would lead you to believe, this sake is very well-suited to wine drinkers who may not yet have been exposed to premium sake.  Price: $62/720 ml bottle

Quite simply, Isojiman Junmai Ginjo is one of the best sake we've recently tasted, and I have a sneaking suspicion it may be featured at the Stroud Thanksgiving table this year.

While we have access to a couple cases of this sake, it is already being spoken for by alert nomidachi.  We hope you'll have a chance to stop by and taste for yourself this weekend, but if you don't and would still like to reserve a bottle or two, please get in touch (phone: 206-467-7253/e-mail: info@sakenomi.us), and we'll fix you up!

The other, slightly more mysterious sake we will be presenting is a wonderful, bargain-priced ($18/720 ml bottle!), high-quality junmai nigorizake that dare not speak its name.  It's kind of long story, but if you stop by for a glass, we'll be glad to tell it.

Distributor Sake Tasting: Friday, Nov. 15 @ 5 pm
We hope you'll join us in welcoming back our good friend, Yuji-san, from Orcas Distributing, as he presents and pours a variety of sake (and beer?) from their terrific product portfolio.

The Big Lebowski: Sat., Nov. 16 @ 7 pm
Just because we mentioned nigorizake earlier, which kind of reminds Big Lebowski poster us of The Dude's White Russians, and it's high time we screened it again, and, well, that's just like our opinion, man.  While there will be no In 'n Out Burgers, we're working on getting some food lined up, too.  'Hope you can join us!
