It's hard to believe we opened the doors to your Seattle sake oasis back in mid-June 2007.

Since then, we've usually celebrated the anniversary of that opening sometime around the last weekend in June.

As this year's anniversary approaches, it's a good time for us to reflect on why and how Sak Nomi came into being.

While we certainly have our fair share of "Groundhog Day" moments/conversations ("What's the difference between hot and cold saki?" "Why don't you serve sushi?"), we're still very excited about introducing people to the flavors, traditions, and culture of premium Japanese sake.

Starting our completely new business (the first sake shop and tasting bar in the U.S.!) in a what quickly became a very poor economy has made our day-to-day operations challenging, but having the opportunity to witness that awakening, when someone gets their first taste of "the good stuff," definitely raises our spirits and helps motivate us to keep on keepin' on.

Making new friendships and being involved in the lives of our (irr-) "regular" nomidachi has been a priceless privilege, too, and it's difficult to put into words how thankful we are for your support --it's much easier for us to put it in liquid form in one of those blue and white "snake eye" tasting cups.

Thanks so much for making us a part of your lives and for hanging in there with us.  We hope to see you at Sak Nomi and express our liquid appreciation to you again soon!

It's hard to believe we are this far into June, and Sak Nomi's 6th anniversary is fast approaching.

We mention some of the coming events below, and we hope you'll be able to make time to join us and celebrate.

This time of year, it's all about Dads and Grads, and we congratulate and celebrate the accomplishments of both.

Ballet 2012 Please note that we will be CLOSED this Sunday, Father's Day, to attend what promises to be a scintillating 4-hour ballet recital.  Though you don't have to ask, yes, there will be premium sake involved.
