As we finish off the spring editions, we've received word that the summer elixirs have reached the US west coast and will be making their way to us in the next couple weeks. But first, sometime in the middle of this month we'll mark the 18th anniversary of the opening of Saké Nomi. It's true that "it takes a village" to sustain something like our dream of a Seattle premium sake oasis, and you consistent "villagers" know who you are. We're so very grateful for your friendship an support! So, there will be plenty of celebrating in the coming days, and as timing would have it, quite a few things will be taking place on Thursday evenings in June. (Details below.) Fruity, with nama freshness and bite. Juicy, fresh, and flavorful, with a little kiwi sour note to keep things interesting. $55/720 ml bottle Tsukasabotan Senchu Hassaku Reika Junmai Nama (Kochi) The “glacier sake,” from a brewery established in 1603. Soft and light, with mild fruit notes of lychee and melon. The overall impression is “clean and cool.” Long, lingering finish begins dry, but has a burst of fruit at the end. $60/720 ml bottle Jyoku White Bear Junmai Ginjo Genshu Summer Release (Aomori) From the importer: “Moderate aroma associated with peach and mango. Refreshing mouthfeel. Savory umami flavor and pleasant acidity are nicely balanced.
